When geocoding postal codes, users should be aware that there may be more than one valid delivery location for a particular postal code.
Geocoding software cannot normally distinguish a preferred location when presented with more than one possible match. Under ideal circumstances, the first location coordinate might be assigned. In other cases, there may be a significant amount of records in the output database that aren't geocoded. Users are advised to check how their geocoder handles multiple candidate records. These problems can be avoided by geocoding with unique postal codes.
Refer to the statistics workbook, included in the product delivery file, for record counts.
