This procedure ends products for a MIMIX installation and is required before upgrading or installing in an environment that currently has products installed. This procedure is valid whether you are installing from the Assure MIMIX Installation Wizard or the native user interface. Use this procedure when you are instructed to by procedures in this book or when the installation wizard prompts you to end MIMIX.

Note: When the currently installed level of License Manager on a system is lower than the level that is on the installation media of the product being installed or upgraded, the installation process will automatically upgrade License Manager before installing or upgrading the product. If there are multiple installations of MIMIX or other Precisely products installed on the same systems as the MIMIX installation that you are installing or upgrading, those other installations and products also need to be ended when the License Manager version on the installation media is 9.0.12.00 or earlier.

Do the following to prepare your environment for the install:

  1. Use the following command on the management system to end replication processes, audits, and supporting processes for the MIMIX installation:

    installation-library/ENDMMX ENDOPT(*CNTRLD)
Note: It may take some time for the ENDMMX command to complete depending on the parameters you specify and your environment.
  2. Repeat Step 1 for each additional MIMIX installation.

  3. If you are not using MIMIX to schedule audits, ensure that your scheduling mechanism does not start audits during the installation process.

  4. If you are using the Assure Unified Interface (VSP), end the Assure UI server on the system where it runs. This prevents object locking issues that can interfere with the install process when subscriptions are used or when Assure UI users are logged in.

    • If the Assure UI server (or VSP server) runs on an IBM i platform, use the command:

    VSI001LIB/ENDVSISVR
    • If the Assure UI server runs on a Windows platform, from the Windows Start menu, select All Programs > Precisely Assure and click Stop Server.

  5. Required: End the port jobs on all systems. Use the End Precisely TCP Server command on each system:

    installation_library/ENDSVR HOST(host_name) PORT(port_number)
  6. Ensure that all MIMIX jobs are ended before performing this step. Use the following command on all systems to end the MIMIX subsystem:

    ENDSBS SBS(MIMIXSBS) OPTION(*IMMED)
