If you use the Assure UI portal to connect to instances of MIMIX or iOptimize products on IBM i systems or partitions, be aware that the portal applications for these products require services provided by IBM i operating system option 12, IBM i Host Servers.

To support communications between the product and the Assure UI server where the product portal application is deployed, the IBM i operating system and option 12, as well as the latest PTFs, must be installed on each IBM inode within the product instance to which you will connect using the Assure UI portal. This is required regardless of whether the Assure UI server is running on Windows or on IBM i.

When option 12 is on each node of a MIMIX instance, you can configure instances in the Assure UI portal with portal connections to each node. This is beneficial during day-to-day activity if there is a communications problem with the primary portal connection because the portal can automatically attempt to use the secondary portal connection to access the instance. It is also beneficial during MIMIX switch operations because the instance in the portal does not have to be manually updated following the switch.

On Assure UI servers, you can use the Host Server Details action for a portal connection to an IBM i node to check whether host servers needed by deployed portal applications whose products run on the node are available.
