The following methods of installing supported product software are available:
The product’s Installation Wizard
The native user interface command line processes
Product Installation Wizard recommended: It is strongly recommended that you use the product’s Installation Wizard to install products. The wizard provides a simple method for downloading, distributing, and installing products on a single system or to multiple systems simultaneously. In addition, the wizard also does the following:
Easily and automatically obtains and applies license keys via Precisely AutoValidate.
For products that provide a portal application, the wizard automatically installs the Assure Unified Interface (Assure UI portal) server and the product’s portal application. The server provides support for browser-based user interfaces to Precisely products which provide portal applications.
The Assure MIMIX Installation Wizard does not support installing into a library located on an independent ASP. For more information about requirements for using Assure MIMIX Installation Wizard, see Support.
In order to prevent problems when installing on multiple systems, run only one instance of the Assure iOptimize Installation Wizard at a time. Wait until the installation wizard has completed before initiating it again.
Secondary procedures: If you cannot use the product’s installation wizard, this book (License Manager for IBM i Products) provides secondary path procedures and supporting information for installing products using the native user interface.
When installing MIMIX, the native user interface processes will restore the MIMIX portal application to the system but these processes do not install the Assure UI server or make the application known to the server. The preferred way to install the Assure Unified Interface is to use the Assure MIMIX Installation Wizard and select the option “MIMIX portal application only”, which will install or upgrade the server as needed. If you cannot use the wizard, you can install the Assure UI portal from a downloadable stream file.
