For the Assure UI portal to connect with the IBM i server, the IBM i host servers must be running.

On Assure UI servers, you can use the Host Server Details action for a portal connection to an IBM i node to check whether host servers needed by deployed portal applications whose products run on the node are available.

To start the servers, use the command from an IBM i command line: STRHOSTSVR SERVER(*ALL)

Other common reasons why you may not be able to log in to the Assure UI portal on an IBM i platform include:

  • The IP address associated with the portal connection is not correct or is not active.

  • The user profile associated with the portal connection is not correct.

  • The host name or IP address referenced in a portal connection does not resolve correctly on the node where the Assure UI server is running. The address must be available from the node where the Assure UI server is running.

  • A setting for the user profile is preventing the log in request from being processed. One of the following settings for the user profile is not correct or the associated object does not exist: current library (CURLIB), job description (JOBD), message queue (MSGQ), output queue (OUTQ).

  • A host server exit program is preventing the user from logging in. Host server exit programs allow system administrators to control which activities a client user is allowed to perform on each of the specific servers. To work with host server exits, see the Work with Registration Info (WRKREGINF) command.
