If secondary Assure UI portal windows, online help, or other pop-ups fail to open on the client, you must disable the pop-up blocking software that is causing the problem. Many browsers, search engines, and third-party software programs are designed to prevent pop-up windows from opening on your PC. Table 11 provides information for disabling pop-up blockers in common applications.

Table 11.How to disable pop-up blockers

Browser

Process

Internet Explorer

To disable pop-up blocking in Internet Explorer, do the following:

  1. From the browser menu, select Tools.

  2. Select Pop-up Blocker.

  3. Select Pop-up Blocker Settings…. The Pop-up Blocker Settings dialog box appears.

  4. In the Address of Web site to allow text box, type system_name:8410.

Note: If you changed the default port number, replace 8410 with your port number.
  5. Click Add.

  6. Click Close.

Firefox

Firefox prevents pop-up windows from opening by default. You can deselect this option to disable pop-up blocking on all sites, or you can add one or more websites for which to disable pop-up blocking. For instructions, see the browser's online help or http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Options+window+-+Content+panel.

Third-party pop-up blockers

For other pop-up blocking software, you can specify that only unrequested pop-ups are blocked, or you can specify that your Assure UI server is handled as a pop-up blocking exception by listing system_name:port_number (the default port number is 8410) as an allowed website. The help included with your third-party pop-up blocking software should provide explicit instructions.
