Depending on your User Account Control settings, Assure UI server commands may fail with access denied messages when attempting to run server commands from a command prompt on a Windows 7 or Windows 2008 server.

This can occur when the command prompt window does not have the elevated privileges needed to run the command. Your User Account Control (UAC) settings may not provide administrative privileges in a command prompt even when you belong to the Administrators group.

To open a command prompt with administrative privileges, do the following:

  1. Click the Start menu.

  2. Point to All Programs, then Accessories.

  3. Right-click Command Prompt.

  4. Click Run as administrator.

  5. Run the Assure UI server command from the resulting command prompt window.
