Consider the locations and the number of Assure Unified Interface (Assure UI) servers to install when planning secure access to manage your Precisely product instances. Considerations include:
How many users of Precisely product instances will you support on separate subnets or VLANs? Can the instances be grouped for management in the Assure UI portal or do they need to be isolated for management in the Assure UI portal (isolated for security, for example)?
Where do the nodes with Precisely product instances that you will manage reside and what is their access?
Are all nodes within one network?
Do all nodes you will manage have Internet access?
Do you want to manage all Precisely product instances through one Assure UI server for consolidation or through multiple Assure UI servers for segregation of subnets or VLANS for a more secure management?Considerations include:
Should the Assure UI server be installed on a common-access Windows system (either a PC or Windows server) that supports management of multiple products on many platforms?
Should the Assure UI server be installed on IBM i, Windows, or both when it supports management for MIMIX (and potentially other supported Precisely products)? How many product instances will each Assure UI server support? (Each Assure UI server can manage one or multiple Precisely product instances).
Should the Assure UI server be installed in a demilitarized zone (DMZ) as a network gateway? And if installed in a DMZ, to which networks would the Assure UI server be allowed connectivity (to one or multiple subnets or VLANs, and also to your corporate network, for example)?
Should the Assure UI server be installed on a server in each subnet or VLAN where the Assure UI portal will manage Precisely product instances?
Should the Assure UI server be installed on one or more of the nodes where Precisely product instances are installed (natively installed on a node that is part of a product instance)?
