The Start Assure UI Server (strvsisvr) command will start the Assure UI server on the local system. When the server is started, you can use portal applications for Precisely products.

Start the server after installing or upgrading the Assure UI portal or a portal application or when restarting the node on which the server runs after it has been down for any reason. Use the strvsisvr command to restart the server if the Installation wizard or a .bff file using installp or smit fails to start the server.
Note: If you installed or upgraded a product with a portal application using a product Installation wizard or a .bff file using installp or smit, you do not need to run the strvsisvr command. Any new or upgraded portal applications are automatically made available to the Assure UI server during the wizard installation process.

The strvsisvr command is also added to the inittab for the AIX system so that the Assure UI server is automatically started with the system is re-booted.

After installing or upgrading a portal application, it may take several minutes for a start server request to complete while the portal application is being made available. The amount of time is dependent on the system workload as well as the amount of work that must be performed to prepare the portal application for use.

To start the Assure UI server, do the following:
  1. Navigate to /opt/visionsolutions/http/vsisvr/httpsvr/bin
  2. From the command line, type ./strvsisvr

To display the full command syntax, do the following:

From the command line, type ./strvsisvr -h
