The Assure UI server can be installed on one or more Windows servers or network nodes running on a supported operating system platform. On platforms other than Windows, installation wizards for Precisely products that support portal applications typically default to installing the Assure UI server and portal application on the nodes where the product is installed. However, the Assure UI server can be installed on any node in the network running a supported operating system even if the product is not installed there. You may want the Assure UI server installed on additional nodes or Windows servers in order to provide redundancy for access to the portal interfaces.
The Assure UI server uses portal connections to connect to nodes where installed Precisely products with portal applications exist. At least one portal connection is used when configuring a product instance within the Assure UI portal. The portal uses the node identified in the portal connection to communicate with and run actions for the products. For multiple-node products, one or more nodes in an instance domain can be used for this purpose. It is recommended that you also configure a secondary portal connection for managing the instance during a switch or failover.
