When you use the Assure MIMIX Installation Wizard to create a new two-node instance of MIMIX, the wizard prompts you for information necessary to create some of the configuration objects for MIMIX. The values you specify are used to create or change system definitions that identify the nodes to MIMIX and a transfer definition that defines communications between nodes, and to set the primary node of the configuration. If prompted, you will need to specify the following for Node1 and Node 2:

  • Node name (SYSDFN) - Specify the name that MIMIX will use to identify the node in the product library. This will be the name of a system definition.

  • Host name or IP address - Specify the host name or address of the node. The name is a mixed-case host alias name or a TCP address (nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn) and can be up to 256 characters in length.

  • Port - Specify the port number of the node. The valid range is from 1000 through 55534. To avoid potential conflicts with designations made by the operating system, it is recommended that you use values between 40000 and 55500. The default value is port 50410.

Important! The Primary node identifies which node will be the source node for replication activity. The node selected should be where your business runs. Ensure that you select the appropriate node. The system definition that identifies the primary node is assigned the MIMIX role of a *NET node. The system definition for the other node is assigned the role of a *MGT node. This occurs even in environments licensed for multiple management nodes.

After installing, the wizard will prompt you to sign into the Assure UI portal and complete the configuration.
