The Assure UI portal includes email support that is used by any portal application that provides user actions for emailing, such as subscriptions. Use the Policies portlet on the Administration page to set policies for email support.

The Assure UI portal uses SMTP to send the email notification to subscribed users. To do this, the Assure UI portal initiates a connection to an email server that is in your domain. The email server and port where it listens (typically port 25) must be configured by your Assure UI administrator in the portal’s Policies portlet. The email server listens on the defined port for email initiated by the Assure UI portal and sends it to user email addresses.

Check with your email administrator to confirm the email server name and port number. Emails will not be sent if this configuration information is not correct.

Do the following:

  1. Log in using the Assure UI administrator user ID (vspadmin).

  2. Select the Administration page.

  3. From the Policies portlet, select the Email Server (SMTP) tab, then click Change.

  4. Identify the SMTP email server to use by specifying its values in the Email server and Port fields.

  5. For the Authentication required field, select a value. When Yes is selected, you must also specify:

    • The User ID and Password to use for authenticating the server

    • Whether to use TLS for a secure connection to the email server

  6. In the Sent from fields, specify the email address to use as the sender and the sender’s user name. The default user name is Assure UI portal.

  7. Click Send Test Email to verify the connection to the email server is established. This sends a test email to the address specified in the Sent from email address field.

  8. Click OK.
