Java runtime requirements have changed. Java 8, is now required for the Assure Security web application server. For operational use, the Assure Security web application server. requires that a compatible version (5761-JV1 or 5770-JV1) of IBM Developer Kit for Java (*BASE) and Option 17 (Java SE 8 64 Bit) be installed on the IBM i system. The Assure Security Installation Wizard for System i includes Java 8 JRE, which is used during installation processes and removed when installation is complete.Action required: Customers who currently use the web listener in Assure Multi-Factor Authentication (Assure MFA) and customers who plan to use the web UI for Assure MFA need to ensure that Java 8 is available on the systems where the Assure UI server is installed. We recommend you do the following from the IBM i systems before installing this service pack:

  1. Use the command DSPSFWRSC to check the installed version of Java.
  2. If necessary, use your IBM i software media to install the appropriate version of licensed programs 5761-JV1 or 5770-JV1 and its option for Java 8.

For a complete list of requirements for the web application server, see the install documentation for your media: either the Assure Security Installation (Wizard) Guide or the Assure Security Installation (Manual) Guide.
