To use the Assure Security Installation wizard to upgrade an instance of Assure Security on one or more nodes (systems or partitions), do the following:
-
IMPORTANT! If you have not already done so, it is very important that you complete the instructions in the Prepare to upgrade an instance checklist to prepare your environment for an upgrade. Ensure that you have ended activity for the product instance being upgraded, have ended the product’s subsystem, and have ended any other subsystems or jobs that use the Assure Security products. If the product library being upgraded is on a node that is part of a replication environment, ensure that you have ended replication activity.
-
If you are using Assure Multi-Factor Authentication with Enforcive Enterprise Security, run the following command:
ENDTCPSVR SERVER(*HTTP) HTTPSVR(BSFAPCH)
-
If you haven’t already, download the Assure Security installation wizard for this service pack from Support to a PC.
-
Double-click on the wizard’s exe file to start the wizard.
-
On the Welcome panel, click Next.
-
The Terms and Conditions panel appears. Select the check box to accept the terms of the license agreement and click Next.
-
On the Select Product panel, select Assure Security (recommended) and click Next.
Note: When you select this option, License Manager is automatically updated as needed. -
On the Installation Options panel, select Upgrade an existing installation and click Next.
-
The Specify Nodes panel appears. Do the following to identify one or more nodes on which to upgrade the product:
-
In the Node or IP address field, specify a valid node name or IP address and click Add.
The wizard verifies that the specified node exists on the network and adds the node to the panel.
-
If you plan to upgrade the product on multiple nodes, repeat Step 8a as needed.
-
When you have identified all nodes, click Next.
-
-
The Node Login panel lists the selected nodes. A blue box next to a node identifies a node for which you must specify credentials. Specify a user ID and password for the node and click Log In.Note: The specified user must have *SECOFR or equivalent authority.
If there are multiple nodes listed and the node for which you are specifying credentials is not the last node to be logged in, the wizard will log in the user and refresh the panel so that you can log in to the next node.
-
The Retrieving Installation Information panel appears temporarily while the wizard program is uploaded to the specified nodes and checks for previously installed versions of Assure Security that can be upgraded. No action is needed unless an error message is displayed.
-
The Select Installation Library panel appears with a list of existing installation libraries on the selected nodes that are eligible for upgrading. When you are upgrading on multiple nodes, the list shows only installation library names that exist on all of the specified nodes and are installed at a level that is compatible with upgrading to the service pack level included in the wizard. Select one library and click Next.
-
Several panels appear temporarily while the wizard retrieves information and validates the service pack files. No action is needed unless an error message is displayed.
-
The License Keys panel appears. Choose one of the following:
The preselected option, Automatically check license keys, allows the wizard to automatically upload necessary information to request license keys and to download and apply the keys. This requires that the PC on which the wizard runs can access an Internet connection.
If you already downloaded license keys, select Specify the location of my license keys, and either specify its location in the Location field or click Choose to browse to its location on the PC.
Then click Next.
Note: You may see additional panels that require responses if you do not have an Internet connection or if there are other errors associated with license keys. If you are upgrading instances of Assure Security on multiple nodes, license keys must be either valid or successfully updated on all nodes before the upgrade process can continue.
-
If the Existing Files Found panel appears, the wizard found installation files for this version of Assure Security on one or more of the selected nodes. The default option replaces the existing files with the installation files packaged in the wizard. Select the option you want and click Next.
-
Several panels may appear temporarily. No action is needed unless an error message is displayed.
The Copy Product Files panel appears while the wizard copies files from the PC to the first of the selected nodes.
If you are upgrading on multiple nodes, the Distribute Files panel appears while the wizard copies files from the first node to the other selected nodes.
-
The Save Product Libraries panel appears with options associated with the identified existing libraries to be upgraded. Do the following:
Select a value for whether you want to check for disk space before saving and click Next.
If you use the preselected option “Yes, check for available disk space”, the wizard retrieves and displays the name of node with the least amount of available disk space, the available disk space, and the size of the libraries.
You are prompted for whether to save the existing libraries during the upgrade process. The preselected value will save the libraries to save files that will be automatically deleted after the upgrade is successful. You can optionally keep the saved libraries or not save them at all. Select an option and click Next.
-
The Product Shutdown Required panel appears.
IMPORTANT!
This panel is a reminder that you must have properly prepared your environment for the upgrade before the wizard actually starts upgrading the Assure Security instance. At this point, all activity for the existing product instance must be properly quiesced, the Assure Security product subsystem must be ended, and other subsystems, jobs, or applications that use the security products or replicate its objects must be ended. The wizard does not perform those activities. If you have not done these and other activities identified in Prepare to upgrade an instance checklist , do them now.
Communication between the PC where you are using the wizard and all of the selected nodes must remain active for the duration of the upgrade.
When you are ready to start the actual upgrade, click Next,
-
The Verify Shutdown panel appears temporarily while wizard processing checks for certain minimum activity, such as whether the product subsystem is active and whether there are locks on Assure Security objects. If the shutdown verification fails on one or more nodes, an error icon appears and the Retry button is enabled. The locked object and the job that holds the lock are displayed in the panel; the reported locks require manual action to resolve.
A common reason for an error is that the product’s subsystem is still active. To address the error, go to the native user interface on the system and do the following:End the product’s subsystem. In the following command, the subsystem name is the same as the name of the product library:
ENDSBS SBS(product-library-name) OPTION(*IMMED)
Check that all jobs in the subsystem have ended using the command:
WRKACTJOB SBS(product-library-name)
When all jobs in the subsystem have ended return to the wizard and click Retry. The shutdown verification will be retried on all of the nodes.
-
The Installing panel appears while the wizard upgrades License Manager and Assure Security on each node, and applies license keys. No action is needed unless an error message is displayed.
-
When the Installation Cleanup panel appears, specify whether you want to delete the installation files and click Next.
If you select Yes, an additional panel allows you to select which versions of installation files to delete from the nodes. Make a selection and click Next.
-
The Summary panel appears, identifying the nodes on which Assure Security was upgraded. To exit the wizard, click Done.
-
If you are using Assure Multi-Factor Authentication with Enforcive Enterprise Security, run the following command:
STRTCPSVR SERVER(*HTTP) HTTPSVR(BSFAPCH)
-
Continue with the instructions in Post-upgrade actions checklist.
