Before installing or upgrading, we strongly recommend that you apply the latest IBM PTFs associated with IBM i releases that pertain to your environment.

Precisely’s Check IBM PTF (CHKIBMPTF) command is available to assist you with checking for the Precisely-recommended PTFs.  The command is available as a downloadable stream file from Knowledgebase article ART-145894. (The command is also included in License Manager after the service pack is installed.) You only need to download the separate stream file if you want to check the latest PTFs before installing. The article includes instructions for downloading and using the command and  lists all of the recommended PTFs for each IBM i release for which Precisely supports products. The article and command are updated regularly with the latest information.

The CHKIBMPTF command runs on a single system and checks it for the Precisely-recommended PTFs. Run the CHKIBMPTF command on all systems where you have installed or plan to install a supported version of a Precisely product for IBM i. The command generates two QPRINT outputs. One output file lists the status of only the PTFs that require attention or corrective action. The other output file lists all the recommended PTFs and their status on the system. You can use the release-specific PTF list in the knowledgebase article to link to PTF cover letters for additional details about a PTF.
  • To check PTFs before installing the service pack, download the command from the knowledgebase article and follow the instructions in the article to run the command.
  • To check PTFs after installing the service pack, use the command LAKEVIEW/CHKIBMPTF.
  • Resolve any issues found.
