Hold all Assure System Access Manager activity by using the command:
product-library/CHGQXACT HLDQX(*HLD)
Access the Work with Point Groups display using the command:
product-library/WRKQXGPNT
- Do the following to create a new point group:
- Press F6 to create a new point group.
- Specify the following fields:
- For Group, specify: *SQLREQ
- For Text, specify: Points that handle SQL statements
- Press Enter to bring up a list of points on the bottom of the display.
- Page Down as needed to locate the following points and type 1 (Select) next to the points to select them.
- DBMON
- ODBC_REQ
- QRYGOV
- Press Enter to confirm the selections.
Points are listed by point type, then alphabetically within each type. Your list may vary based on what models have been restored.
- Press F3 (Exit). You should see the new point group has been created and is attached to three points.
- Press F3 (Exit) to exit from the Work with Point Groups display.
- Now you must associate the new point group to the Assure System Access Manager Controls that can use this point group. Do the following:
- Access the Work with Controls display using the command:
product-library/WRKQXCTL
- On the filter line at the top of the display, type ODBC in the Point field and press Enter. The list of five controls that use the ODBC_REQ exit point are displayed. The control names are:
- REJ_PWD
- ODSET_REJ
- ODSET_AUT
- ODSET_LOG
- ODSET_SWAP
- Type 2 (Modify) next to a control and press Enter.
- Place your cursor in the Point field and press F4 (Prompt).
- In the Control Point pop up window that appears, type 1 (Select) next to the ODBC_REQ point name and change its name to *SQLREQ. Press Enter several time to reach the last screen and save the change.
- Repeat Step 4c through Step 4e for each control previously associated with the ODBC_REQ point.
- Access the Work with Controls display using the command:
- Now you must eliminate duplicate functionality within the controls. From the Work with Controls display, do the following:
- On the filter line, type SET in the Control column and press Enter.
- The eight controls currently available for SQL functionality are listed. The controls now under the *SQLREQ point group will work with any of the points that can execute SQL requests. The controls that were previously defined to the DBMON point (names starting with DBSET) are now redundant and must be removed. Use option 4 (Delete) to delete the controls that have "SET" within their control name for the DBMON point.
- Use F3 (Exit) to exit the display and save the changes.
You should see only the four *SQLREQ points for the ODSET control on the Work with Controls display now. To avoid confusion in the future, you must rename controls to match the new naming conventions used in the 6.0.03.00 and higher CONTROLER model. To implement the rename operation, the controls must be copied to a new name and then the old named controls must be deleted.
Old Name
New Name
ODSET_AUT
SET_AUT
ODSET_LOG
SET_LOG
ODSET_REJ
SET_REJ
ODSET_SWAP
SET_SWAP
Because each control is configured differently, you must copy them separately. For each of the SET controls for the *SQLREQ point, do the following:- Type 3 (Copy) next to the control for the *SQLREQ point and press Enter to edit the control.
- In the Control field, change the name to the new name.
- Press Enter several times until you are prompted to save the changes on Exit Y.
- Repeat Step 6a through Step 6c for each control.
- When you have eight controls listed, use option 4 (Delete) to delete the controls that begin with the characters "OD".
- Use F3 (Exit) to edit the screen so the relationships between Controls and Points are updated.
- To confirm that all the changes are present, do the following:
- Access the Work with Controls display using the command:
product-library/WRKQXCTL
- Change the filter line to specify *SQLREQ in the Point field and press Enter. You should see the five controls that are configured for the SQL point group, which matches the CONTROLER model shipped with Assure Security 6.0.03.00 and higher.
- Access the Work with Controls display using the command:
Release the hold on Assure System Access Manager activity by using the command:
product-library/CHGQXACT HLDQX(*RLS)
If you already have an earlier version of the CONTROLER model that you configured prior to upgrading to Assure Security 6.0.02.00 or higher, you need to do the following to take advantage of the recommended and simplified configuration for SQL request points.
