Optional product-level security capabilities within License Manager provide the ability to restrict user access to commands provided by License Manager, including commands used to install or upgrade Assure Security. Even for new installations, License Manager may already exist on a system if other Precisely products are installed.

Before installing or upgrading Assure Security on a system that has enabled product-level security for License Manager, ensure that the user profile to be used has sufficient authority to perform the process.

Do the following to determine whether product-level security is enabled and the authority level granted to the user profile you intend to use for installing or upgrading:
  1. Enter the command:

    LAKEVIEW/DSPPRDAUT PROD(*LICMGR) LIB(LAKEVIEW)
Note: If the command is not found, License Manager does not exist on the system and its product-level security capabilities are not enabled. Return to the checklist.
  2. Check the value of the Current security state field on the resulting Display Product Authority display.
    • *OFF = Product-level security is not used. A user profile that meets other installation requirements identified in User profile requirements for installing can be used. Return to the checklist.
    • *ON = Product-level security is enabled. Installing or upgrading Assure Security using commands must be performed by a user profile that is listed on the display and has either *ADM or *MGT authority.
  3. If product-level security is enabled and you need to grant authority to a user profile for installing, specify the user profile name for USERS in the following command:

    LAKEVIEW/GRTPRDAUT PROD(*LICMGR) LIB(LAKEVIEW) USERS(name) AUTH(*MGT)
Example: License Manager has product-level security enabled and the user profiles EVERETT and MARIE have appropriate authorities to use commands to install or upgrade software.
