License Manager provides a common set of functions for several Precisely products that run on IBM i systems and may already be on your system. For a new instance of Assure Security, this is relevant because:
  • If License Manager is not on the system and you plan to install Assure Security from a stream file (STMF), you will need to download the INSPRD utility and take additional actions to get bootstrap functions on the system before you can install software.
  • If License Manager exists on the system because of a different Precisely product, you will need to confirm that any optional product-level security capabilities for License Manager will not restrict access to commands needed to install software from either the wizard or a stream file.

To determine if License Manager is installed, enter the command:

LAKEVIEW/DSPPRDAUT PROD(*LICMGR) LIB(LAKEVIEW)

If the command returns the error "Library LAKEVIEW not found", License Manager does not exist on the system yet.

For an existing instance of Assure Security, License Manager will be present on the system. You will need to confirm that its optional product-level security capabilities will not restrict access to commands needed to install or upgrade software from either the wizard or a stream file.
