The Assure Security web application server is automatically installed with the product and is currently used only by capabilities within the Assure Multi-Factor Authentication and Assure Monitoring and Reporting licensed features.
Ensure that your system meets the requirements for the web application server if you plan to use either of the following capabilities of Assure MFA:
- The Assure Security web user interface (web UI). The web UI provides a modern user interface for Assure MFA and Assure Monitoring and Reporting.
- The web listener service. The listener service provides a mechanism for requiring additional authentication from end users working with locally installed (PC) client applications that require FTP, ODBC, or JDBC connections to an IBM i system. The listener can be configured as either a 5250 application or a web application. When the web listener is used, the web application server is required. The web listener is relevant for Assure MFA only.
The web application server requires the following to be operational:
- 64-bit Java must be installed on the IBM i system where Assure Security is installed. See the table below.
- The application server uses secure communications with HTTPS. The secure communications requires a certificate. The self-signed certificate is shipped with the product and is used by default. To use a signed-certificate, see the instructions in the Assure Security Common Functions and Tools User Guide.
