To install a new instance of a product from a stream file (STMF) or CD, do the following:
  1. IMPORTANT! If you have not already done so, it is very important that you complete the instructions in the Prepare for a new instance checklist to prepare your environment for a new instance.

  2. Log in to the system or partition using the QSECOFR user profile or a user profile that has security officer classification and all special authorities. Logging in just before starting the software upgrade causes the generated job log to be limited to just the installation process.

Set the message logging level of this job based on your preference. For maximum logging, use the following command:

    CHGJOB JOB(*) LOG(4 00 *SECLVL) LOGCLPGM(*YES)

  3. If you are using a CD to install, do the following:
    1. Load the CD into the system’s optical device.
    2. Specify the name of the device from which you are installing for device-name in the following command and press Enter.
      LODRUN DEV(device-name)
    3. Then skip to Step 8.
  4. If you are installing from a STMF, do the following:
    1. Download the stream file for the service pack from Support to a PC if you haven’t already done so.
    2. Transfer the STMF to the system or partition where you plan to install Assure Security.
  5. If any version of License Manager (library LAKEVIEW) already exists on the system or partition, do the following:
    1. Enter the command:
      LAKEVIEW/INSPRD
    2. Then continue with Step 7.
  6. If License Manager does not exist on the system or partition, you must use the INSPRD utility to get started. Do the following:
    1. Download the INSPRD stream file from Support to a PC if you haven’t already done so.
    2. Transfer the INSPRD STMF to an IFS directory of your choosing on the IBM i system.
    3. From a command line, type the IBM command CPYFRMSTMF and press F4 (Prompt).
      • At the From stream file prompt, enter the name of the stream file you transferred in Step 6b.
      • At the To file member or save file prompt, enter the following:
        /QSYS.LIB/QTEMP.LIB/SAVF.FILE
      • Press Enter:
Note: This step converts the stream file to the QTEMP/SAVF save file.
    4. To restore all the objects from the save file, type the IBM command RSTOBJ and press F4 (Prompt).
      • At the Objects prompt, specify *ALL.
      • At the Saved library prompt, specify QTEMP.
      • At the Device prompt, specify *SAVF.
      • At the Save file prompt, specify SAVF in library QTEMP.
      • At the Restore to library prompt, specify QTEMP as the name of the library into which the objects should be restored.
      • Press Enter.
    5. Type QTEMP/INSPRD and press Enter.
    6. Continue with Step 7.
  7. The Install Precisely Product display appears. Do the following:
    1. At the Stream file prompt, specify the name of the product STMF you downloaded.
    2. At the Installation Library prompt, accept the default value, *SELECT.
    3. Press Enter.
  8. The Precisely Common Install display appears with a list of products displayed. To install a new installation of a product, type 1 (Install/upgrade) next to the *NEW line for the product and press Enter.
You may see other products listed on this display. If License Manager is already installed, its installed version will be shown instead of *NONE.
  9. If the Precisely License Agreement appears, it is recommended that you read through all pages. Press F16 to accept the agreement.

Note: If you decline the agreement (F12), a cancellation message is displayed and you are returned to the Precisely Common Install display.
  10. If you see one of the following displays, you must obtain valid license keys:
    • New Install without License Keys display
You are performing a new install and do not have valid license keys for the product version. You can either attempt to obtain keys now, or continue the install without keys. If you continue without keys, a valid license key is required before you can attempt to use the product.
    • Update License Keys display
License keys are required to continue. The display identifies the location of the license request package (LRP) and the website to which upload it. Once you have downloaded the resulting license key package (LKP) and transferred it to the recommended location identified on the Update License Keys display, press F16 to continue. Then specify the location of the LKP on the Apply License Keys display and press Enter. If the LKP contains valid license keys for the product you are installing, the install process continues. If the license keys are not valid, the install process is canceled.
    • License Keys Not Valid
The display identifies the reason the license keys are not valid. You either must cancel the install request or obtain a license key package (LKP) before continuing. Once you have an LKP, press F16 to continue. Specify the location of the LKP on the Apply License Keys display and press Enter. If the LKP contains valid license keys for the product you are installing, the install process continues. If the license keys are not valid, the install process is canceled.
Note: If you continue a new install without keys or cancel the install, you will have to obtain and apply them after the install completes before you can use the product.
  11. The Install Precisely Product (INSLKVPRD) display appears. Do the following:
    1. Confirm the value of the Product prompt. For Assure Security, the expected value is *SECURITY.
Note: If you selected a new product in Step 8 but the Product prompt displays the value *LICMGR instead of *SECURITY, the installation process determined that License Manager must be installed or upgraded before the product can be addressed. If this occurs, press Enter to allow processing to continue. After License Manager is successfully installed or upgraded, you will see the Install Precisely Product display again with values for the Assure Security product.
    2. At the Installation library prompt, verify that the name is what you expect. Either accept the default name, SECOPS, or optionally specify a new name with as many as 8 characters.
    3. To start the installation process, press Enter.
  12. Depending on your choice for Step 8, you may see one of the following additional displays.
    • If you selected a product but License Manager was installed as a prerequisite and the product license keys are not valid, you will see the License Key Failure display. Return to Step 10 to obtain the keys and continue with the install.
    • If you selected a product but License Manager was installed as a prerequisite and the product license keys are valid, you will see the Install Lakeview Product (INSLKVPRD) display. Return to Step 11 to specify the information for the product.
  13. When the product and License Manager (if necessary) have been installed, the Precisely Common Install display appears and completion message LMC0002 appears at the bottom of the display. A row is added to the list showing the installed product, its installation library name and installed version.

  14. Log off the system or partition, then log in again. This limits the job log to the actual installation process.

  15. Continue with the instructions in Post-new-install actions checklist.
