In an isolated outage, MIMIX processing is ended on one or more backup or replicate nodes. Processes on the primary node are not affected. This procedure may also require that the node be ended from the active clustering group.

This procedure assumes that the node to be ended is a target node (backup or replicate) and that MIMIX is being ended so that the node can be placed in restricted state, IPLed, or powered off.

Important! Do not use this procedure for the following:

  • Do not attempt this procedure to end an active primary node. If the primary node needs to be ended as part of an isolated outage, a planned switch must be performed first so that the next backup node can be promoted to become  the primary node.

  • Do not use this procedure to end processing in order to perform a non-dedicated backup. Instead, use Ending MIMIX for non-dedicated backup processing.

Do the following from the node to be isolated:

  1. From the node to be isolated, run the following command:

    installation_library/ENDMMX ENDOPT(*CNTRLD) ENDRJLNK(*YES) SYSDFN(*LOCAL)

Where installation_library is the name of the library in which MIMIX is installed.

Note: If more than one target node is to be ended as part of the same isolated outage, repeat Step 1 on all nodes to be brought down before continuing.
  2. Do the following to check the status of the ENDMMX request:

    1. Enter the command:

      installation_library/WRKSYS
    2. On the Work with Systems display, type an 8 (Work with data groups) next to the node to be ended and press Enter. This will display the status of all data groups associated with the node.

    3. When all data groups are inactive, this step is complete.

  3. Do the following to end cluster services for the node to be isolated:

    1. Enter the command:

      installation_library/WRKSYS
    2. The managers for the node to be isolated should have a status of *INACTIVE as a result of ending MIMIX.

    3. Use option 10 (End) next to the node to be isolated to end cluster services.

    4. Press F5 (Refresh).

    5. Confirm that the managers and cluster services for the node have ended.  The node is ended when there are three *INACTIVE statuses shown for the node.

  4. If the Assure Unified Interface server is running on the node you are isolating, use the following command to end the Assure Unified Interface server:

    VSI001LIB/ENDVSISVR
  5. Ensure that all MIMIX jobs are ended before performing this step. End the MIMIX subsystem from the node you are isolating. Type the following on a command line and press Enter:
    ENDSBS SBS(MIMIXSBS) OPTION(*IMMED)
Note: If you are running Assure Unified Interface in the MIMIX subsystem for any product, be aware that all Assure Unified Interface processes will end.
