These instructions can be used to perform a planned or unplanned switch of an application group. An application group can have only one procedure that performs a start, end, or switch operation running at a time.
Before you begin, review topic About switching for details about preparing for a planned switch, actions following an unplanned switch, and implications of the parameters available on the Switch Application Group (SWTAG) command.
To switch an application group, do the following:
From the Work with Application Groups display, type

(Switch) next to the application group you want and press Enter.The Switch Application Group (SWTAG) display appears.
Verify that the values you want are specified for Resource groups and Data resource group entry.
At the Switch type prompt, specify the type of switch to perform.
For a planned switch, specify *PLANNED.
For an unplanned switch, specify *UNPLANNED.
Verify that the default value *CURRENT for Node roles prompt is valid for the switch you need to perform. If necessary, specify a different value.
If you are starting the procedure after addressing problems with the previous switch request, specify the value you want for Begin at step. Be certain that you understand the effect the value you specify will have on your environment.
Press Enter.
The Procedure prompt appears. Do one of the following:
To use the default switch procedure for the specified switch type, press Enter.
To use a different switch procedure for the application group, specify its name. Then press Enter.
A switch confirmation panel appears. To perform the switch, press
