Recovery processing policies are available to provide control over system resources used for processing recovery actions on the source system. The number of jobs performing recovery actions at any given time and the number of attempts to retry a recovery can affect system performance.

Maximum handler jobs - The replication manager uses a persistent controller job and multiple handler jobs for processing recovery actions. The controller job sends recovery requests to the handler jobs. The handler job determines whether to perform a synchronize operation for the recovery request or to route the request through object replication processing. The Recovery processing maximum handler job policy determines the maximum number of handler jobs that are allowed to run on each source system in the instance.

Retry attempts per recovery - If the initial attempt to process a recovery request fails, MIMIX will attempt to retry processing the request. The Recovery processing retry attempts policy determines the maximum number of retry attempts that are allowed.

To change the recovery processing policies, do the following:

  1. From the command line type SETMMXPCY and press F4 (Prompt).

  2. Verify that the value specified for Data group definition is *INST.

  3. Press Enter to see all the policies and their current values.

  4. To change the number of handler jobs allowed, specify a number for the Maximum number of jobs prompt under Recovery processing

  5. To change the number of retries allowed, specify one of the following in the Number of retires per recovery prompt under Recovery processing:

    • Specify the number of retries per recovery.

    • Specify *DISABLED to prevent retrying recovery actions that failed.

  6. To accept the changes, press Enter.

Changes become effective automatically as the replication manager checks for recoveries to process.
