There may be times when you need to disable auditing completely for an instance or for a specific data group. Auditing may not be desirable on a test data group, while performing a backup from a target system, or during system or network maintenance.

The Audit runs (AUDRUN) policy can be used to disable auditing for an instance or for a data group. When this policy is disabled, MIMIX cannot automatically submit audits according to their schedules and users cannot manually run audits using default options from either the Assure Unified Interface or the native user interface.

Notes:

  • When the Audit runs policy is disabled, you can still manually invoke an audit by selecting the option to override policy settings in the Run Audit or Run Audits dialog within the Assure Unified Interface or by using option 39 from the Work with Audits display. This capability is the preferred way to run all audits before a switch.

  • If you need to allow manually invoked audits to run and prevent MIMIX from automatically submitting audits, you can do so by disabling the auditing schedule. You can disable scheduling for all-objects audits, prioritized-objects audits, or both with the Set MIMIX Schedule (SETMMXSCD) command.

From the native user interface, do the following from the management system to disable all auditing for an instance:

Note: This procedure changes a policy value at the installation level. The installation level value can be overridden by a data group level policy value. Therefore, if    a data group has a value other than *INST for this policy, that data group-level value remains in effect regardless of the instance-level value.
  1. From the command line type SETMMXPCY and press F4 (Prompt).

  2. Verify that the value specified for Data group definition is *INST.

Note: If you need to disable the policy for a specific data group instead of the instance, specify the data group name.
  3. Press Enter to see all the policies and their current values.

  4. Specify *DISABLED for the Audit runs prompt and press Enter.
