MIMIX offers communication mode (CMNMODE) policy, which is an instance-level policy. The policy can be set to *SECURE, *UNSECURE, or both. When both the values are specified, *SECURE is attempted first, followed by *UNSECURE if the secure attempt fails. This process ensures MIMIX replication and other processes to continue even if secure communication fails.

Do the following to choose a communication mode:

  1. From the command line type SETMMXPCY and press F4 (Prompt).
  2. For the Data group definition, choose*INST and press Enter.
You will see all the policies and their current values for the *INST level. Use the Page Down key to locate the Communication modes allowed (CMNMODE) policy.
    Do one of the following:
    1. Choose *SECURE communication mode with port jobs to enable secure communication. This communication mode is used by default when both secured and unsecured are provided. *SECURE can only be selected if the current policy setting is *SECURE and *UNSECURE, or if it is currently *SECURE.
    2. Choose *UNSECURE communication mode with port jobs to enable unsecured communication. *UNSECURE can only be selected when the current policy setting is both *SECURE and *UNSECURE or if it is currently *UNSECURE.
    3. Choose both *UNSECURE and *SECURE to choose while still allowing unsecure communications if a secure connection fails.
    4. Press Enter to accept the changes. These changes take effect immediately, thus current active connections remain unaffected.
