User exit points in critical processing areas enable you to incorporate specialized processing with MIMIX to extend function to meet additional needs for your environment. Access to user exit processing is provided through the use of an exit program that can be written in any language supported by IBM i.
Since user exit programming allows for user code to be run within MIMIX processes, great care must be exercised to prevent the user code from interfering with the proper operation of MIMIX. For example, a user exit program that inadvertently causes an entry to be discarded that is needed by MIMIX could result in a file not being available in case of a switch. Use caution in designing a configuration for use with user exit programming. You can safely use user exit processing with proper design, programming, and testing. Services are also available to help customers implement specialized solutions.
