These instructions identify how to change a network system in a multimanagement environment so that it communicates with fewer management systems. Doing so may reduce the amount of communications resources used by MIMIX system managers when the multimanagement environment also has a large number of network systems. The MIMIX environment must be licensed for multiple management systems.

Important! Before using these instructions, we strongly recommend contacting your Certified MIMIX Consultant for assistance in assessing your communications resources while ensuring that MIMIX systems have adequate essential internal communications. Distance between systems can be a factor which may increase communications traffic when fewer management systems are allowed to communicate with network systems.

Do the following:

  1. Choose one management system from which to perform all steps in these instructions.

  2. End MIMIX using the command:

    ENDMMX ENDSMRJ(*YES)
  3. From the MIMIX Configuration Menu, select option 1 (Work with system definitions) and press Enter.

  4. For each network (*NET) system that you want to change on the Work with System Definitions display, do the following:

    1. Type a 2 (Change) next to the *NET system definition and press Enter.

    2. At the Communicate with mgt systems prompt, specify the names of the management systems allowed to communicate with the selected network system. You can specify as many as three management systems.

    3. Press Enter.

  5. When you have completed changing the network system definitions, start MIMIX using the command:
    STRMMX
