The following example illustrates the preferred naming convention for journal definitions. In this example, all three nodes, CHUCK, HENRY, and OSCAR, are designated as management systems in a multi-management environment. The data group name is ABC.

When a node is the replication source, the arrows from that node point to its possible target nodes. For each source node, a corresponding target journal definition is necessary for each potential target node.

The below table shows the remote journal ID (RJ ID) that MIMIX assigned to each system and how that ID is used in the names of the journal definitions, journal libraries, and journal and journal receivers. To support a fully switchable environment for this example, all nine journal definitions shown are needed.
