Journal standby state is only available if the separate, chargeable feature from IBM (Option 42) is available on the system. If you have this feature, you can enable MIMIX to use journal standby state in data groups that have a numeric value for the Number of DB apply sessions (NBRDBAPY) parameter.

To enable journal standby state in an existing environment, do the following:

  1. From the Work with Journal Definitions display, use option 2 (Change) to access the journal definition you want.

  2. From the Change Journal Definition display, specify one of the following values for the TGTSTATE prompt and press Enter:

    • Specify *ACTIVE when the data group associated with the journal definition allows journaling on the target system (*YES for Journal on target (JRNTGT) prompt).

    • Specify *STANDBY to prevent most journal entries from being entered into the target journal. Objects are journaled on the target system, but most journal entries are not deposited.

  3. In order for the changes to be effective, you must build the journaling environment using the updated journal definition. Do the following:

    1. Type 14 (Build) next to the definition you just modified on the Work with Journal Definitions display and press F4 (Prompt).
    2. The Build Journaling Environment (BLDJRNENV) panel is displayed. Specify *JRNDFN for the Source for values (JRNVAL) parameter and press Enter.
