Data group file entries identify *FILE objects and are required for the following:

  • Replication of files by a data group configured for only user journal replication (type *DB).

  • Default cooperative processing or legacy cooperative processing of files.

  • User journal replication of files as a result of a journal-centric data group configuration. In this case, data group file entries are automatically created by MIMIX.

When you configure MIMIX, you can create data group file entries by loading entries from another source or by adding file entries individually. Once you have created the file entries, you can tailor them to meet your requirements.

Note: For either default or legacy cooperative processing, files must be defined by both data group object entries and data group file entries. It is strongly recommended that you create data group object entries first. Then, load the data group file entries from the object entry information defined for the files. You can use the #DGFE audit or the Check Data Group File Entries (CHKDGFE) command to ensure that the correct file entries exist for the object entries configured for the specified data group.
