Data group IFS entries identify IFS objects for replication. When default configuration values are used, the identified objects are replicated through the system journal unless the data group IFS entries are explicitly configured to allow the objects to be replicated through the user journal. When a data group uses a journal-centric configuration for IFS objects, data group IFS entries are not needed to identify the IFS objects journaled to the user journal of the data group. However, IFS entries are needed to exclude journaled objects you do not want to replicate and for IFS objects that are better suited for system journal replication.
Before you start creating entries, it is recommended that you become familiar with the information included in Identifying IFS objects for replication. The topic identifies supported file systems, variations in configuration requirements based on the replication process to be used, the order of precedence that MIMIX processes use for IFS entries, and details about identifying object names, including length, case sensitivity, and the use of asterisks as wildcard characters.
