The CMPFILDTA command allows you to work with physical file members only. You can select the files to compare by using a data group, the object selection parameters, or both.
-
By data group only: If you specify only by data group, the list of candidate objects to compare is determined by the data group configuration.
-
By object selection parameters only: You can compare file members that are not replicated by a data group. By specifying *NONE for the data group and specifying file and member information on the object selection parameters, you define a name space on the each system from which a list of candidate objects is created.
The Object attribute element on the File parameter enables you to select particular characteristics of a file. Table 70 lists the extended attributes for objects of type *FILE that are supported as values for the Object attribute element
-
By data group and object selection parameters: When you specify a data group name as well as values on the object selection parameters, the values specified in object selection parameters act as a filter for the items defined to the data group.
Detailed information about object selection is available in Object selection for Compare and Synchronize commands.
