A rule defines a command to be invoked by the MIMIX Run Rule (RUNRULE) command and options for notifying you of the result.

MIMIX uses rules as the mechanism for defining and invoking audits. Each shipped audit is a rule that pre-defines a command invoked by the compare phase of an audit and the possible actions that can be initiated, if needed, in the recovery phase of an audit. MIMIX audits have names which begin with the pound sign (#) character. While audit rules cannot be changed, you have considerable control over audits through policies and scheduling. The MIMIX scheduler job (MXSCHED) provides support to automatically submit auditing requests.

Two commands, Run Rule (RUNRULE) and Run Rule Group (RUNRULEGRP), enable programmatic scheduling of rule activity. MIMIX invokes the RUNRULE command when submitting audits automatically. You can also run rules on demand by using user interface options for audits and rules or by using these commands interactively.
