Use this procedure when a configuration checklist directs you to start a newly configured data group for the first time. You should have identified the starting point in the journals with Establish a synchronization point  when you synchronized the systems.

Note: To avoid a potentially long delay while starting replication for the first time, you can manually deploy the configuration before starting the data group. For more information, see Manually deploying configuration changes.
  1. From the Work with Data Groups display, type a 9 (Start DG) next to the data group that you want to start and press Enter.

  2. The Start Data Group (STRDG) display appears. Press Enter to access additional prompts. Do the following:

    1. Specify the starting point for user journal journal replication. For the Database journal receiver and Database large sequence number prompts specify the information you recorded in Step 5 of Establish a synchronization point .

    2. Specify the starting point for system journal journal replication. For the Object journal receiver and Object large sequence number prompts specify the information you recorded in Step 6 of Establish a synchronization point .

    3. Specify *YES for the Clear pending prompt.

  3. If the data group participates in an application group, do the following:

    1. Press F10 (Additional parameters).

    2. At the Override if in data rsc. group prompt, specify *YES.

  4. Press Enter.

  5. A confirmation display appears. Press Enter.

  6. A second confirmation display appears. Press Enter to start the data group.
