Data groups are central to performing day-to-day operations. The Work with Data Groups (WRKDG) display provide status of replication jobs, counts of any new or in-progress recovery actions, and indication of any replication errors for the data groups within an installation. Highlighted text indicates whether problems exist. Many options are available for taking action at the data group level and for drilling into detailed status information.

Detailed status: The command DSPDGSTS (option 8 from the Work with Data groups display) accesses the Data Group Status display. The initial merged view summarizes replication errors and the status of user journal (database) and system journal (object) processes for both source and target systems. By using function keys, you can display additional detailed views of only database or only object status.

Database views - These views provide information about replication performed by user journal replication processes, including journaled files, IFS objects, data areas, and data queues. They also include information about the replication of user journal transactions, including journal progress, performance, and recent activity.

Object views - These views provide information about replication performed by system journal replication processes, including journal progress, performance, and recent activity.

When a data group is experiencing replication problems, you can use these options from the Work with Data Groups display to view problems grouped by type of activity: 12=Files not active, 13=Objects in error, 51=IFS trk entries not active, and 53=Obj trk entries not active.
