Before you can install the metabase, you must have already defined a server. The Install Metabase process prompts you for information to connect to your Oracle server and, depending on the status of the metabase that it detects, lets you create the metabase database and objects, or upgrade the metabase objects.

The metabase objects are stored in a tablespace on your source. You designate an existing tablespace, or the Install Metabase process can create a tablespace for you.

If no copy of the metabase already exists at this source, have the ID and password for a system administrator available for this instance.

During a metabase install, Connect CDC Director creates the following:

  • Replication database

  • The replication user (if not already created) and grants privileges

  • Required tables, indexes and procedures

Note: For Oracle Pluggable database, a user is added to the root container. Connect CDC Director checks if a root user already exists and if it does not, it creates one.If you are using multiple pluggable databases on the same system then the root container user must be the same for both.
