Remote hosting of IBM i server - Connect_CDC - aws_mainframe_modernization_service - connect_cdc_mimix_share - Latest

You can model a remote IBM i server on a Windows or Unix host. Remote hosting:

• Off-loads the Connect CDC Listener and Connect CDC Kernel processes on the source i5

• Increases performance

In the following sample, LTIAS08 is a Windows host with a remote IBM i server, which is actually running on an IBM i machine.

If you set up your model with remote hosting, you do not need to have a Connect CDC Listener or Connect CDC Kernel running on the remote server or to have Java installed there. The Change Selector and the Delete Receiver Exit program must still be installed on the remote server.

Define the server that you are hosting remotely as you normally do on the Server Properties window, with the following special steps:

1. In Name, specify the machine name.

   

2. Select JT400offbox as the JDBC driver.
   
   
   

3. Click OK and continue modeling.
