A path specifies a transmission route from a source host to a target host via one or more intermediate hosts. A path group is a named collection of unnamed paths.

A path may be defined with multiple source, intermediate, and target hosts. Having multiple source hosts means that a path is defined between each source host, via all intermediate hosts, to each target host.

The dialog lists the defined hosts and whether it is a source, intermediate, or target in the path. When you define your model, by default, the data moves directly from source to target. For this exercise, accept the default.

However, you have the option to route data through an intermediate host machine by specifying a path (that is, an ordered list of hosts through which your data moves) and a path group. An intermediate host machine runs only Connect CDC Listener and does not need to have a database server installed.
