Requests can be created for snapshot copying of source data or for change-based replication or for synchronization. In this exercise, you define a copy request and a replication request. Synchronization requests are described in the Advanced User Guide.

  1. Right-click the Requests subbranch you just defined, then select New Request>Copy.

The Copy Request Properties dialog is displayed.

  2. On the Common tab, enter a request a name and accept defaults for the remaining fields in this tab and on the Copy and General tabs.

The Copy tab is for specifying details about the copy processing at the source (for example, using a fast load utility, copying order, table locking) and the apply processing at the target (for example, error and commit handling). The options on the Copy tab, including using the database’s fast load, are described in the Advanced User Guide.

  3. Click OK, and see that your request displays under the Requests branch.
