You can commit an EDMM without first validating the model. If you do, validation is performed as the first step in the commit. Perform all the same steps as you would when you a Perform a full commit or Perform an incremental commit.

If the EDMM is successfully validated, the commit continues. If the EDMM is not successfully validated at all servers included in the commit, the EDMM continues based on the validation threshold you set on the Model Properties dialog. See Set the validation threshold when committing an EDMM.
