Each Connect CDC sending table and each receiving table at this server must be journaled with before-images and after-images. Although you cannot use the Connect CDC Director to create the journal objects themselves, you can use this dialog to assign your tables to journals and provide for before-images as well as after-images in the journal entries for the changes to the table.

You can assign tables to the journal by IBM i command (see the Installation Guide for a list) or you can use the Connect CDC Director Journal Operations dialog to add or remove journaling for a DB2/400 table. You can do any or all of the following:

  • Assign a table to an existing journal.

  • Remove one or more tables from their current journal assignment.

  • Reassign (remove and then assign) one or more tables from one journal to another.

Once the journals and table assignments exist, Connect CDC journal management facilities can work with, or in place of, your operating system to take care of journal receiver changing and deletion.
