This topic introduces you to the Enterprise data movement model (EDMM), which is the unifying definition of the Connect CDC distribution system. EDMM contains information about the data you are distributing (for example, location, type, destination, route, schedule, and handling) and the computers and databases involved (address, login, connection requirements).
The Connect CDC components that move data from source to target and that monitor and control the distribution system, cannot function without the information you provide in the EDMM. That model contains two main subdivisions:
- Components that describe your data.
- Components that describe how to move your data.
