Connect CDC may be used in a network with one or more firewalls. This includes the use of the Connect CDC Director, Connect CDC MonCon, and Connece CDC Console from any machine, even over the Internet, outside one or more corporate firewalls.

Setup entails changes to the Host Properties Tab. From the Connect CDC Director, click Host Properties, then specify the following for each host behind your firewall:

  1. The local name or local IP address of the host. The local kernel uses this for communication to the server and listener locally.

  2. The IP address of the firewall that the host is behind. This is the IP address that kernels and clients on hosts outside the firewall will use to communicate with the hose. On the Host Properties tab, check the box for Use Alternate IP Address for connections to this host (e.g. firewall). Then enter the address in the IP address field.

  3. Check Preassign a data port number and enter the number. Enter a port number for the listener. These ports will be used by kernels and clients on hosts outside the firewall to communicate with the host.

  4. Click OK.
