You can replicate Db2 for i data directly to AWS RDS targets including PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2. You can also replicate Db2 for i data to Amazon MSK as a staging area for other user specific targets or applications.
These capabilities are enabled by Precisely Connect CDC components in a Windows instance running in the AMI that receives source database changes from Precisely Connect CDC components running in your IBM i system and uses target database client drivers to apply the changes to the target databases or Kafka.
Precisely Connect CDC for Windows is already installed in the AMI. See Precisely Connect CDC for Windows in the AMI for instance initialization details and how to define and enable replication pipelines.
Client Drivers for some targets, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, are included in the AMI already installed and configured requiring minimal additional user specific configuration to use as detailed in AWS RDS target client drivers in the AMI.
You will need to install and configure Precisely Connect CDC for IBM i change selector in each of your IBM i systems from which data will be replicated as per the instructions at Install Precisely Connect CDC z/OS.
